[Gimp-user] Tiling - is there a better way?
Tiling is described on http://www.gimp.org/tutorials/Tileable_Textures/ as Select Image Layer - Transform - Offset. Then choose the convient x/2, y/2 option, and hit OK. This is pretty awful. Is this question better raised at the 'developers' mailing list? A better way of doing textures would be to show 'phantom' copies of the tiled image like this: || copy | copy | copy || ++ || copy | copy | copy || ++ || copy | copy | copy || When you make a paint brush mark across a boundary you see it tiled properly! Like this mock-up of 4 backslashes to simulate a diagonal line. \\ \ copy |\ copy |\ copy \ | \ | \ ---\+---\+---\ \\ \ copy |\ copy |\ copy \ | \ | \ ---\+---\+---\ \\ \ copy |\ copy |\ copy \ | \ | \ or viewing the image by itself without all the copies: +---\+ \\ |\ copy | | \ | +---\+ -- Regards, Alf Lacis Senior Software Design Engineer A.i. I had not read the first e-mail with due attention. I saw the copycopy, part, my mind put blur in the place of the diagonal slashes, and whe n I had it off sight, I thught it was exactly about what make seamless does. But indeed, it is exactly about what the bur report is. At least I don't read this mail as a basic help, can someone please show me how to make a seamless texture? message.
