 gthump is really good. The best I've seen so far, at least. It also has 
Open in gimp menu entries and drag'n'drop works like a charm.

Try the latest version of digikam. 
You can get it at http://digikam.sourceforge.net/Digikam-SPIP/

I like it better than Gthumb or GQview.
