Hi all, I recently wrote a shell script using Imagemagick which goes through all my backups and finds, identifies, thumbnails and catalogs all images found there, even if the file names have no extensions. However, Imagemagick handles some issues rather badly: when converting CMYK to RGB, it makes terrible color distortions, flattening multiple layered PSD files usually ends up in a mess, and very large files (like 30MB+) take very long to convert.
Is it possible to make command line identification and conversion scripts with GIMP that would be comparable, and would they perform better and faster than using Imagemagick? An expereienced response would save me a lot of time.
