Hm, don't know whether this is a good choice - directories with a leading dot are hidden therefore usually used for settings. While it is no technical problem to do it like this, you're confusing the semantics of such directories. You'd need various deb creation utilities... dpkg, etc. etc. etc. (checkinstall worked for me, until my Debian system died when I pushed Ctrl-C at the wrong time during ldconfig for another program).
