I saved an image file on Gimp/Linux with each of the Gimp TIFF
compression options, and then tried to open them in Windows with the
Windows and Fax Viewer, MS Paint, and PSP. My PSP/Windows might be a
bit old, because when I saved an image back to Linux and then opened
it with Gimp/Linux, I got an error complaining about "Incorrect Count
For Field, DateTime". This doesn't surprise me. I saved them back with
MS Paint, and no problem.

Gimp TIFF Compression Options
*
Worked:
 lzw
 none
 packbits

Did Not Work:
 jpg
 deflate

I'd try saving the tiff files using lzw compression on the Mac.

A neat thing about Gimp is, if you type an extension in the Name
field, (file01.tiff), it's obeyed. In other words, you don't have to use
the drop-down selection or list-box at the bottom. It saves a few key
strokes :-)

Let us know how this works.

Thanks.
