just a guess, but it may be the same as when i was compiling enlightenment

i assume you're using the setup command:
xfstt &
xset fp+ unix/:7101
both need to be done.
you may also need to "build" your library. i think that's xfstt --sync or
something like that. it's in the documentation, i believe.

some errors i noticed:
1. to sync xfstt, you use xfstt --sync, not xfstt sync.
2. in order to add the new font path, the command is xset fp+
unix/:7101.
3. i can't remember, but i think you must have X running, also to
set the font path.
