I use the crop tool to swipe out box and get it close. Then I fine tune
things with the pop-up dialog that lets you place toe corners exactly
where you want them.

Always check the RGB levels when you are preparing to print. My guess is
that they are less than 255,255,255(max white).
If your background level is indeed 255,255,255 then your printer is not
calibrated correctly.

One way to swap out color is to use selectby color to select
all the color you want to replace and then editfill with FG color to fill
the selected area with the foreground color.
