Paths are supported and you should upgrade your Gimp to the newest
version.

Tigert has a Bezier Curve (paths) tutorial at his site:

Paths are in the current development version (1.1.15 as of this
writing) and will be in the next stable release.

GIMP 1.1.x, the development series, has support for paths.

I'm learning gimp through a class on photoshop.. does gimp support the
path concept
of photoshop?  I don' t see it in the version I have (v 1.0.1) or in the
gimp book I have.
