This has drawback as it uses console redirection so it depends on the console output. On Windows PowerShell has some issues with output encoding. I guess it will work just

git apply targetfile.patch logs warning: 1 line adds whitespace errors . I own a Windows PC so this must be an issue with line ending. Also if I use PowerShell console to output the diff to patch file, I get error fatal: unrecognized input
