I think you're looking at the wrong solution for those requirements. Instead,
look at filesystem snapshots. That can be accomplished in a few different ways.
Windows, which is the OS I assume you're referring to, has a Volume Shadow Copy
facility that is similar in functionality to filesystem sn
I'm putting together a thumb drive that boots into an evil operating system
(yes, that one), and has some applications and data on it. It would be nice
to have the whole thing under version control. Yes, I know this is
unconventional.
