Ben, Because Git is distributed, a fetched file will not show any meta information. You must use the git log command to find such information. With git log, you can see who last committed a change to the file, but not who has fetched the file. Note that your repository must be "up to date", to be sure you're getting accurate information. There is no way for a user to lock a file to prevent other users from fetching that file. Good luck!
