I prefer the --short output of "git status". Is there some way I can
configure things so it uses that by default? I can create an alias in
.gitconfig for sstatus = "status --short", but then I need to type "git
sstatus". I want something where I can just do "git status" and have it
pick up the desired option.

I'm using git version 1.7.0.4 on Ubuntu Linux.
