/etc/gitconfig file: Contains values for every user on the system and all > their repositories. If you pass the option--system to git config, it > reads and writes from this file specifically. I've just instaled Git on my (Debian 64bit) VM, but there is neither /etc/gitconfig file, nor a .gitconfig file in my user home directory. Perhaps something went wrong, when Git was being installed?
