It's fairly common to allow totally collapsing a paned/split view. GTK+ allows
it by default (and so all GTK+ apps which haven't added special code to prevent
it), and Qt even has friendlier behaviour where once you get close to fully
collapsing it, it snaps shut, making it a little more obvious

define a keybinding as I said.
As far as window size 0 or 1 or 2 etc Geany takes the approach for most things
that if the user set it they meant to do it, and so it does what it is told and
isn't too smart
@elextr I don't "want" to set the height 0. the message window has no close
button (no cross icon in the right upper corner, as notepad++ does for
example). perhaps with an close window icon this request would me less
imortant...
to use the menu option to close a window - this seems to be a bit
I tried to import the certificate to the keychain access app but without any
success.

I solved the issue by fully removing Geany from my system and every trace I
could find of it and then installed it again through Homebrew.

I think the issue has been solved, the syntax highlighting is perfectly
matching Rubys.
I can also finally view the Crystal as an option in the menu bar, Geany is also
autodetecting Crystals extension.

@vstepaniuk I don't know much GTK+ CSS and it's probably specific to the
version of GTK+ 3 since CSS is unstable and changed at many different versions.
A search [like this](https://www.google.ca/search?q=gtk+css+reduce+padding)
seems to have a fair bit of info though.

@codebrainz, could you explain how to change the height of the toolbar and
status bar with GTK+ CSS/theme?
The "small" icon size is fine, but there is too much space around these icons.
