bbrady1992's answer works for me.
In Centos,
$ sudo yum install geany-devel
solves:
"checking for GEANY... configure: error: Package requirements (geany >= 1.26)
were not met:
No package 'geany' found
Consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you
installed software in a non-standard prefix.
Alternatively, you may set the environment variables GEANY_CFLAGS
and GEANY_LIBS to avoid the need to call pkg-config.
