OLD RECORDS, NEW (DIGITAL) USES: Irfan Khan [EMAIL PROTECTED] quotes
the UNESCO WebWorld Newsletter on the district in Nepal which put old
records to new digital uses. In Nepal, a remote district is are
joining the information revolution. Kanchanpur, in western Nepal is
using information technology to modernize its public administration and
has recently transferred to electronic format some of the records
previously preserved by being wrapped in pieces of cloth. Through a
joint government/UNDP programme, Kanchanpur is fast becoming a model of
an information technology-friendly district, says the report.
