FYI, We have gluster containers available at docker hub
https://hub.docker.com/u/gluster/ for both CentOS and Fedora.
Also we have blog post which explains how to configure it in Kubernetes

You can use either xfs or ext4 as the backend filesystem.

Admittedly the last time I tested was last year, but every time I have
tried btrfs its lead to data loss/
