Which version of GlusterFS are you using? The locks translator should be enabled by default for all volumes for the latest versions (IIRC 3.5 and above). So you wouldn't need to do anything. To verify you can check the generated brick volfiles in /var/lib/glusterd/vols/VOL/brick-name.vol . Also,

You should send a SIGHUP to all glusterfs processes. Your logrotate configuration is just sending a SIGHUP to the GlusterD process. That's why the other processes are still logging to the old files. You can use the `pkill` command to send a signal to all Gluster processes; `pkill -HUP gluster` .

Re: [Gluster-users] gluster probe node by hostname

You have just modified the on-disk stored information. The in-memory information still is the IP. GlusterD only reads the on-disk file when starting up, and after that uses the in-memory information for all operations. This is why you still see the IP in peer status. You have to restart GlusterD

This happens because of 2 things, 1. GlusterFS writes an extended attribute containing the volume-id to every brick directory when a volume is created. This is done to prevent data being written to the root partition, in case the partition containing the brick wasn't mounted for any reason. 2.
