Has multi-threaded SHD been merged into 3.7.* by any chance? If not,

The GlusterFS network layer was changed to use unprivileged (>1024)

Hey Adrian,
Can you list your volume infos? Most of the times the reason for peer state
being stuck is because of some volume information being incorrect and the
volume infos can help debug the problem. Could you also start glusterd in

You have to provide the log-level option to the `gluster` command
directly, as in `gluster --log-level=WARNING volume info`.
I don't know how or why the log level of CLI defaults to TRACE. It
used to be INFO earlier, but some it has changed to TRACE. I need to
investigate this further.

I've written a how-to for setting up network encryption on GlusterFS at [1].
This was something that was requested as setting up network encryption
is not really easy.
I've tried to cover all possible cases.
Please read through, and let me know of any changes, improvements needed.

You can get the current op-version by looking at
/var/lib/glusterd/glusterd.info . GlusterFS-3.6 has no way to get it
via a command.
But you can set the via a command. Do `gluster volume set all
op-version 30600` to set the op-version of the cluster to 30600, which
is required for add-brick to

Hi Roman,
The steps you've given should work without any problems. And the same steps
will apply for a replicated volume as well.

Hi,
This is the question
You should send a SIGHUP to all glusterfs processes. Your logrotate
configuration is just sending a SIGHUP to the GlusterD process. That's why
the other processes are still logging to the old files.
You can use the `pkill` command to send a signal to all Gluster processes;
`pkill -HUP gluster` .
You have just modified the on-disk stored information. The in-memory
information still is the IP. GlusterD only reads the on-disk file when
starting up, and after that uses the in-memory information for all
operations. This is why you still see the IP in peer status. You have to
restart GlusterD
Awesome Punit! I'm happy to have been a part of the debugging process.

Hi everyone.
I'm disappointed to announce that our application to be a mentoring

organizations [1] this year (down from 190 last year) and couldn't find
place to accommodate us.
The main reason behind the rejection was the
This is a known issue non RPM (Fedora/EL) packages. The DEB packages and
packages for other distros don't do a post upgrade regeneration of
volfiles. So after the upgrade, GlusterD is searching for the new volfiles
which don't exist, and cannot give the clients with a volfile, leading to

This happens because of 2 things,
1. GlusterFS writes an extended attribute containing the volume-id to every
brick directory when a volume is created. This is done to prevent data
being written to the root partition, in case the partition containing the
brick wasn't mounted for any reason.
2.
Sticking with the same version would be the best option. But you could use
any 3.6.x release. We do not implement any breaking changes between minor
versions.

There is nothing wrong with your setup. This is a known issue (at least to
me).
The problem here lies with how GlusterD collect and collate the information
on the open inodes on a volume, which isn't really efficient as of now. The
collection and collation process involves doing several small (at
Thanks Niels. I've added links on each page to the other for now. We can

gfapi currently doesn't provide a way to setup backup volfile servers. This
would make a nice feature request. You could open a feature request by
filing a RFE bug at [1]. If you want, one of us could file it in your stead.
But even if gfapi were to provide an api to set backup volfile servers,
