I was searching by the same and try using the unnoficial gmarks 1.0.51 in
firefox and doesnt work, try again using palemon and the importo of around
700 bookmarks work.

I was reading from the web and get the response why gmarks is not working,
from firefox 22 and later a lot of interfaces and another items are
deprecated and then by that parts of gmarks are not working.
The only workaround to load all bookmarks for me was install Fx 21 with
gmarks and make
