I've had bad luck with Chicagovps, you really do get what you pay for with them, and trying to reset a server tends to result in a week of downtime and a few support tickets. Digitalocean has been great and really cheap. They've been my go-to for most things. Rackspace is a little pricey, but

Also a happy Linode customer. For all practical purposes, they provide a blank box, you specify the Linux distro/flavor of choice. after that you own the box. For 5 years plus, experienced a couple of minor downtimes (minutes) for various migrations upgrades, and a few hours off during Superstorm

I'll throw in another vote for Linode. Their service has been excellent in the couple of years I've been using them. I used ChicagoVPS before that and while they are cheap, they are a very small operation and I had a bunch of accounting issues with them. DigitalOcean looks promising as well... if
