I have guile-1.8 installed, but not 1.6.
Ubuntu 10.04 doesn't have guile-1.8-slib package similarly to guile-1.6-slib,
which contains symlink /usr/share/guile/1.6/slib-../../slib.
To fix that, enter following commands:

Brilliant, thank you Tao and Valdis, I'll try this tomorrow. I didn't check
the Wiki, instead relying on the various README / INSTALL / etc. files in
the source directory, which made no mention of the Ubuntu 10.04 specifics.
I'll give it a shot again on the morrow once I'm back from work.

In any case, no. SET NAMES seems to just tell the mysql server that the

The database has already be set up as utf8. However, if data to be put into it
was not in utf8 (possibly or probably true without SET NAMES 'utf8'), I assume
that the data in the database will not be correct. I'm not sure there's
anything we can do about that.

Hi, Geert,
I just checked out r19204, and found my patch is committed. Thank you.
However, the encoding of gnucash.iss.in is wrong again. Maybe it's the
same problem at last time caused by Eclipse svn tools. Could you
double check it?
Is there a way to split gnucash.iss.in into multiple files?

Umm..., I found the encoding problem is not only happens on Chinese.
Many characters are compromised by the changeset of r18718 (maybe
others). Especially the Greek, it should become chaos since then.
