They are all front ends for dpkg in any case on recent Debian derivatives. I'm

both Linux Mint 18 and 19, and as far as I know Ubuntu 16.04 18.04 seem to have

I don't think these are under the control of the Gnucash developers - they are
wikimedia features. But by understanding
how the wiki search works, it may be better able to structure the wiki so that
searches produce better results. My guess
is it should do some tree search crawl of the links but I don't know for sure.

Thanks John,That cleared a few issues up for me. I'll have a look at
the gnc- tree- view-account code to get some pointers. I have
programmed before in C ,only a very little in C++, but I am fairly
rusty . I was surprised to get a few things wokring without any
problems so far. I am not sure
the interaction between the rubber-banding and
multiple selection mode. Usually the best way of understanding incomplete or
unclear documentation.
I'm away for a few days on holidays so I'll try and tackle it then if my
wife lets me get an opportunity. Otherwise it will be when I return.
Cheers

reconciliation, I usually prefer a printed copy so I can tick transactions
off as I reconcile them in GnuCash. I have used spreadsheets as well to mark
off reconciled transactions where the statement was available in csv.
