Yes, the beta should bring transactions as well.
But you don't need to export your accounts anymore. Exporting Accounts from
GnuCash desktop strips all transactions.
Just use your normal uncompressed GnuCash XML file. Or if you were using
GnuCash with SQLite DB, then save as... XML and then
Hi David,
However, if I understand correctly, your app does not retain the full data
file when it imports. I base this on the issue regarding reconcile status
and notes. It seems to me that you should be VERY clear to everyone that
your app doesn’t preserve the data file’s integrity, so that
Hi again Ngewi,
No luck with importing accounts and transactions. I've saved my normal
GnuCash file as uncompressed by removing the Compress Files check under
the General Preferences and saving it as xxx.gnucash. I've then used
Dropbox to upload and download it to a number of Android devices
Ok, thanks for trying it and letting me know. I'm working to make those error
messages a bit more descriptive.
I'll let you know when the next beta is released so you can try again.

Ngewi
P.S. If you are willing you could try putting the file on the SD card so I can
exclude the
Hi Ngewi,
Yes I'll try that, I already marked it as a favourite in DropBox and let it
download fully to try an rule out any caching issues. I'll use the file
manager to move it to the SD card and try from there and let you know the
result.
Cheers Dave H.

Thanks Ngewi, that seems to have cured the issue with not loading any
transactions - I can see them all now :-) I'll do more testing tonight and
let you know if I find any other issues.
Thanks again, Dave

Hi Ngewi,
I just DLd your beta2.apk. I emailed a copy of my .GNUCASH file - this is
the XML right?
I had saved the file in Gnucash as XML.
But it says error occurred while importing...
any suggestions - am I doing something wrong?
Thanks,

No you're not doing anything wrong. Are you importing from SD card or some
cloud service?
Yes it should be the XML file and in an uncompressed format. Compressed or
binary XML will not work.
I'm working to make the error messages less cryptic.
Thanks for the feedback!

I emailed the APK to the phone and saved it to the Download folder.
I exported the the accounts from GN and then the XML worked but of course
that only has the Accounts Tree structure no transactions. I am assuming
the beta brings transactions over as well?

Ngewi,
I haven’t taken a look at this latest version of the Android app, as I do not
find myself wanting or needing the immediacy of having GnuCash in some form on
my Android devices (yet).

Hi Ngewi,
Thanks for your work on bringing this app to Android.
I've been looking for the option to import the transactions from my
existing GnuCash file and cannot seem to find it. The only option I see is
Import GnuCash Accounts under Account Preferences - perhaps I'm missing
something here -
Hi Kim,
Thanks for that elaborate feedback. I'll definitely try to fix the
transaction notes fields import.
Future transactions will come with a later release in which I plan to
expand the scheduled transactions functionality in the Android app (it is
very rudimentary at the moment).
Basically,

Hi Again Ngewi,
Thanks for the feedback. So just to be clear if I want to import the
accounts and transactions to your app I just copy the compressed GnuCash
xml file as is to my android device via dropbox and import from the app ?
Thanks Dave.

I don't think compressed files will import. Only uncompressed XML.
I need to also make that clear in the app too, I think.
But yes, just import the normal file.

It looks like this might be nice for tablets with large screens. :)

Ngewi,
Thank you for the reply. XML issues understood. Including the notes field
in the import would certainly satisfy me for the time being. This should be
a very interesting project to watch.

I agree. :)
Is there any not-too-difficult way to import a tiny subset of a data
file - say for cash transactions only that would not kill a small screen
smartphone? perhaps a few asset and liability accounts and only
Hello Ngewi,
I installed v1.4.0-beta1 on my Kindle HDX 8.9, and imported a large (approx
21 Mb) GnuCash XML file. I have not had a lot of time to look play with it
yet, but all accounts and transactions appear to have imported correctly.
Well done. You have created a very useful Android
Hello Ngewi,
Some early transaction importing observations:
1. Large files import successfully.
2. All accounts are created successfully.
3. All transactions up to and including today's date import successfully.
4. Transaction account, category and amount are imported successfully.
4. Any
