From history it looks like the local currency symbols including "SFr." were
introduced for 2.4. It's quite possible that the reports in question hadn't yet
changed to use them.

Considering that was included by Apple as the system font for some time, I
highly doubt there are any kerning issues with it. (They are typography nerds
and would cringe at such an issue.) That may be a rabbit hole to far to travel
to figure out the cause.

Not sure as I didn’t start with GnuCash until the early 2.6 days and I never
recalled seeing currency codes on reports. (my memory could be faulty)
John’s suggestion to edit the currency in the Security Editor should get you
what you want.

In 2.4 I have GC / Prefs / Accounts&Reports / Default Currency as CHF and I see
printed "CHF" with a space between CHF and the value.
In 3.6 I have GC / Prefs / Accounts&Reports / Default Currency as CHF and I see
printed "SFr." with no space between SFr. and the value.
So... did SFr. not exis
I am using Lucida Grande in both 2.4 and 3.6.

For completeness,
CHF *is* SFr.
CHF is the code for the currency.
SFr. is what appears as a currency symbol on reports.
For example, USD is the code for ‘U.S. Dollar’ and the currency symbol is ‘$’.
You won’t see ‘USD’ on reports and you won’t see ‘CHF’ on reports.

I’ve had problems with StyleSheets not taking my changes as well in some cases.
In some instances it was a font problem, not a GnuCash problem.
You might not have been seeing a true space in the past. It might be a kerning
issue with the current font so it looks like the two glyphs are closer to
What are the currencies assigned to the accounts in the report?
I found when changing locales the other day testing some date functions that I
had to restart GnuCash in between each change. (this was a Mac System Prefs
change) In some cases, I had to log out and back into my Mac.

Also, just to be clear, after setting:
defaults write -app /Applications/Gnucash.app AppleLocale 'en_GB.UTF-8’
I get the right thousands separator and decimal, but the currency shows as SFr.

Hi All,
Longtime Mac GC user, still running my original 2.4.11 install from… 10 years
ago? I am now looking at upgrading to 3.6 and am encountering a problem with
the "grouping" character and decimal points being transposed. I am using GC
with CHF (I am in Switzerland), but my computer is se
