Stan, You can also right-click the one split you want to keep (like the one assigned to the credit card account) and choose 'Remove other splits". Like wise, you can Delete only specific splits, or duplicate them as needed. One of the above is usually sufficient for me when customizing

Sort of. When it autocompletes hit right-arrow to move to the end of the autocompleted string and add an extra character, then tab. That will prevent GnuCash from copying in the transaction and you can fill in the account and credit/debit fields, then tab back to description and remove the
