Interesting history... but I don't think I'll bother... I was forced into doing this under Quicken because the file was so large that it was unmanageable (possibly because Intuit said to do it) If that ever becomes a problem with GnuCash, I'll just make a copy of the datafiles, and then go

That helps - thanks! I assume that if I attempt to quit GnuCash with unsaved data, it will remind me to save... but the current indications of unsaved data files have been sufficient to remind me to save the data. If you have data going back 15 years, I'm just getting started with 6 years (heh).

This question may have been asked before, but I'm relatively new to this mailing list. Is there any advantage to switching to the database format? Would it use less space? My ".gnucash" file is about 1.5M currently, and opening it takes mere seconds. Long ago in my Quicken days, I would
