Yes probably right. I generally duplicate and just update the account I want it under :-) Cheers David H. Re: [GNC] Cut & Paste transaction problem
I'm assuming the copy/paste would be more for copying to a different account as the duplicate option is in the same account. Is there any advantage in using Copy Transaction and Paste Transaction ? I only ever use Duplicate Transaction - 1 step as opposed to 2... Cheers David H. Re: [GNC] Blank entry in my check register -- can't be removed
I have occasionally had the 'New Transaction' window seem to get stuck in a fixed position in the transaction sequence of the register view and not disappear or fall to the bottom of the window when it ordinarily would. When that happened to me, it would revert to it's expected behavior after saving and re-booting. I was never able to figure out why. [GNC] Blank entry in my check register -- can't be removed
I'm using Windows 10 Pro, GnuCash Version: 4.5 Build ID: 4.5+(2021-03-27) Finance::Quote: 1.49 This issue is a new one, I've never experienced in all the years of using GnuCash. In my check register for one of my accounts, I just noticed a blank transaction (has a May 2nd date and all other fields are empty). If I try and delete it, *nothing happens*. I exited out of GnuCash and then re-started, but it's still there. It's almost like it's "locked" but that feature doesn't exist (does it?) in GnuCash. This blank line appears amongst other transactions, both before and after, eg it's not the "standard" blank line for new entries (that remains unchanged) that appears on the current date. It's not impacting the balance, etc., so I guess it's "harmless" but... Re: [GNC] Cut & Paste transaction problem
I would be willing to bet that you never automatically got the original date on any copy. When I use the copy transaction feature in previous releases of GnuCash up to 3.8 it always asks for the date and defaults to today if not changed. Re: [GNC] Cut & Paste transaction problem
Follow up to my earlier post, which I just noticed. My recommended work-around for the Cut Transaction & Paste Transaction problem (using Copy Transaction & Paste Transaction) has an issue I have never noticed before: When I just used Copy Transaction & Paste Transaction, the date of the original transaction did not carry through when I pasted, the new transaction took today's date. Though I can't swear that it wasn't doing this before, I am 95% certain it did not. ___ gnucash-user mailing list gnucash-user@gnucash.org To update your subscription preferences or to unsubscribe: https://lists.gnucash.org/mailman/listinfo/gnucash-user If you are using Nabble or Gmane, please see https://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/Mailing_Lists for more information. - Please remember to CC this list on all your replies. It *should* match the ending balance from your previous statement. You can go check that. If it does NOT match, then you might have inadvertantly un-reconciled a previous transaction, or possibly moved it or accidentally changed it. If the balance DOES match, then go through each transaction carefully -- most likely there is a typo in there, a missing transaction, or an extra transaction. (I had this issue recently where I mis-typed something, and strangely the difference exactly equalled another transaction.. It took me about 3 passes before I finally found the issue). > Barry > Please remember to CC this list on all your replies. > You can do this by using Reply-To-List or Reply-All. -derek -- Derek Atkins 617-623-3745 de...@ihtfp.com www.ihtfp.com Computer and Internet Security Consultant ___ gnucash-user mailing list gnucash-user@gnucash.org To update your subscription preferences or to unsubscribe: https://lists.gnucash.org/mailman/listinfo/gnucash-user If you are using Nabble or Gmane, please see https://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/Mailing_Lists for more information. - Please remember to CC this list on all your replies. [GNC] Reconcile Opening Balance
Hi, I am sure this has come up beforebut. Reconciling an account - I have a starting balance of €x,xxx.xx and an ending balance from the date of the latest bank statement of €x,xxx.xx. So far so good. I have checked the entries in the a/c and all are either R or c. I have also checked there are no non-cleared that I don't know about. However, I have a surplus when 'reconciled' and I cannot find out why Is there anywhere I can find where the starting balance number comes from? Is that 'wrong' giving a surplus or am I missing transaction(s) somewhere?
