(Correction. It seems to work for most but not all funds; and has failed

I recently had to change to "Yahoo as JSON" quotes when
Alphavantage changed their access rules, and for a while it worked no
problem. Today it doesn't. For each security I get an error message of the

I'm on Win 11 Gnucash 5.3 and I do have the same problem.
An actual example: I wanted to change an existing transaction description

I've just upgraded from 4.14 to 5.4 on Windows 11 and have noticed that the
latest log file now remains open and locked even after closing the Gnucash
window (the file lock stops my OneDrive from synchronizing, which stops a
normal windows shutdown). Only the log file is locked: the gnucash
elper. And the Security Editor
no longer warns me that finance::quote is not installed.
Looking good!

Norton Utilities came with my new Windows 11 computer. GnuCash 4.13 is
working great and I've migrated my data from the old computer, but there's
one problem: the script supplied to install finance::quote has failed with
error message "failed to download perl install file". At the same time,
Finding the right source and symbol seems a challenge! For several years
I've been successfully getting quotes through fq using the single source
"Alphavantage, US" for single UK equities, and the multiple-source "U.K.
funds" for UK funds. However, I can't find anything that works for UK

To get quotes for a UK fund, I switch on Get Online Quotes, select Multiple
sources, scroll down to the bottom of the list of sources, and select "U.K.
Funds ...". So
Perfect! Many thanks Maf. and Frank, that worked :-)

Does anyone know how to get price quotes for LSE:BT.A from Alphavantage? Or
from any other source?
Following other advice on this forum, I've successfully retrieved price
quotes from Alphavantage for other LSE stocks by concatenating the LSE
ticker code with ".L" and setting that as the value of

GnuCash tax reports won't be able to show all your taxable income when you
withdraw funds from the SIPP.
Hope this is of interest to some.

That covers it if the SIPP is in a separate GC file of its own, where my
contribution is an income (and an expense from my bank account in the main
GC file, which I use to fund the contribution).
But if it's all in one GC file we have

Thanks Maf,
You're right it's not a big deal, there aren't many additional calculations
to do, and they're easy calculations. But hey, GC is an accounting system
and it can do the sums needed for our tax reports, so I thought the most
elegant solution is to have GC do those calculations. If it
