Have you read https://www.mscs.dal.ca/~selinger/accounting/tutorial.html and the companion https://www.mscs.dal.ca/~selinger/accounting/gnucash.html? I finished both last night and am working through chapter 12 of the current guide.  I think it is an accounting setup issue more than a reporting
