the 'No samples for ...' might have creeped in unnoticed because
the errors are supressed in general,
perhaps my observation can help to solve, will follow up in #329,

all results in my various patched and original 'standard double' and 'long' versions log fails

It is an implementation choice. If you don't need a colormap anymore,
just delete the appropriate file from ~/.goffice/colormaps/
