The Brown Indian Band releases 'Fusion Lounge'

The Brown Indian Band formed by bassplayer Colin
D'Cruz features accomplished Indian classical
musicians in concert with jazz musicians. Indian
classical music can be compared to jazz as both are
forms of improvised music. Indian classical music is
linear and uses just one scale (raga) to improvise
within a composition whereas jazz has a much broader
palette for improvisation where multiple scales can be
used to improvise through harmonic changes (chords).
Indian classical music however, has some of the
world's most complex rhythm structures and subtle
quarter tones that add an exciting new dimension to
forms of improvisation to create a very funky sound of
world music. The band's debut album titled 'Fusion
Lounge' features Dhiraj Kapadia-bansuri, Shadaab
Hussain-percussion, Clifton Rodricks-keyboards and
Colin D'Cruz-fretless bass. The CD priced at Rs.199/-
is available in Goa at Vibes music Margao and can also
be purchased worldwide under independent artists at
