Although Loutolim were already eliminated from the second round due to their earlier losses, it was a matter of pride to win this one and they did it in style. Renato put Loutolim in front in the fifth minute. It was the first goal scored by the team in this tournament, organised by All Star Entertainment and United Goans, Dubai, and played at the Iranian stadium. Seven minutes into the second half Nascimento completed the tally off a pass from Francis. Raia tried to come back into the game but could not breach the Loutolim defence. Moses Silva of Loutolim was named Man of the Match and he received his trophy from Mohammed Hussain, an official of Iranian Club. Later, Fr Agnel Pilar Emirates Flight Catering had to fight hard to beat a strong St Anthonys Pernem side 2-1 in their last league game of the tournament. Although both the teams fought well for victory, it was more like an exhibition match as both teams had already qualified for the next round. Thomas Dias put Fr Agnel Pilar ahead in the 12th minute of the game. St Anthonys Pernem equalised in the 18th minute when Darryl Rasquinha scored from a free kick. All through the second half both teams went in search of the winning goal. But it was only in the dying minute of the match that Thomas Dias scored his second goal for Fr Agnel Pilar and he was awarded with Man of the Match trophy presented by Cajetan Silveira of Vanxim Divar and a tournament committee member. Zuari, Old Goa move into next stage DUBAI Old Goa and Zuari kept their momentum going for some football honours on Monday. They joined defending champions Divar and FC Siolim in the knockout stages of the second All Goa inter-village football tournament with easy victories in their final round-robin league matches. Peter Fernandes got himself on the scoresheet as SFX Old Goa edged Calangute 1-0 in the first match of the day at the Iranian stadium . Peters goal came as early as the fourth minute. >From that point onwards Old Goa was in total control of the game. They almost ran rings around a bewildered Calangute side with some brilliant ball play. But the Old Goa lads could not convert their all-round superiority into goals. For that, Calangute owe many, many thanks to some outstanding goal keeping by Warren DSouza. But for Warrens skill under the bar, Old Goa might have won the match by a huge margin. Of course, Calangute did go all out in search of that elusive goal with Josiah, Norman and Francis working their legs off. But Old Goa defenders Henry, Reagan and Charlton were up to their task and kept the marauders at bay quite easily. As they went after goals, Calangute left some and wide gaps at the back and that was exploited by the Old Goa forward line. But some poor finishing and great goal keeping by Warren ensured there were no further goals in the match. The only consolation that Calangute had came with Warren DSouza being adjudged Man of the Match. He received his trophy from Hassanpour, an official of the Iranian Sports Club. The second match saw Zuari showing no charity to their rivals who came all the way from Abu Dhabi for the game. Zuari outplayed Chinchinim UAE Exchange 2-1 to book their place in the quarter-finals. The initial stalemate was broken in the 15th minute when Carlton put Zuari in front with an opportunistic strike. Cliff, Avinash and Sandeep worked hard to bring Chinchinim back into the game with a good display of skilful football but Zuaris strong defence led by Baptist, Joslyn and Savio guarded their territory well. Seven minutes into the second half, Julius Noronha, off a pass from Conceicao, scored for Zuari to make it 2-0. Even then Chinchinim never gave up. Chinchinims spirited fight back paid off when Cliff Fernandes pulled one back for the visitors in the 16th minute. Julius Noronha of Zuari was named Man of the Match. __________________________________ Yahoo! Music Unlimited Access over 1 million songs.
