Hello Netters

Just yesterday, I read on the newspaper in Saudi, that Laxmi Mittal is
planning to invest 9 billion dollars in Jarkand for building Steel Industry
there, and also a Korean Steel Company which plans to invest 12 billion
dollars in Bihar. I was wondering why none of the companies want to do
something in Goa? Well maybe because of the environmentalist who object for
such industries? So where are they when the garbage problem is plaguing Goa?

Goa as has been known for years has been a tourist destination, but most
tourist will start abstaining Goa if this problem is not controlled. With no
proper drainage facilities, no proper sewage facilities, and no proper
garbage disposal system, the present problem will magnify into a real
hurdle. And than, what? With no tourist, what does the government intend to
do to Goa?

With the plans to invest more for the IFFI, will it solve all the problems?
And the new Airport at Mopa? What will be its use if Goa is no more a
destination for tourism?

Cheers

Jerry Fernandes
