Re: Mr. Frederick Noronha’s mail asking me to share my short stories on Goa, 
I haven’t written any, merely compiled a collection in 1971 whose copyright 
I don’t own! I would certainly welcome reading your interview with Dr. Jose 
Pereira which I missed earlier. I myself published an article on him in the 
1980s in the now defunct Sunday Standard at the behest of Dom Moraes who was 
its editor. I don’t have a copy with me. Perhaps Dr. Pereira has and can 
share it with you though it must be outdated.

Re: Mr. Jorge Noronha’s and Ms Livia Noronha’s mail on three points about 
Abbe Faria, apparently my reply didn’t reach you. So here it goes again.

1. Dr. Manohar Rai Sardessai’s translation of Abbe Faria’s book on Lucid 
Sleep, was sponsored by Margao’s eminent psychiatrist Dr. Rajendra Hegde who 
is pursuing the matter of its publication.

2. Regarding the translation of Varde Valaulikar’s biography of Abbe Faria, 
I’d suggested that perhaps Dr. Hedge could get it done. Since then Dr. Hegde 
has been pursuing the matter with some potential translators. But the main 
problem is getting a publisher since the Abbe is not well known outside Goa 
among the general public and publishers are reluctant to take on the task.

3. Regarding Faria’s year of birth, 1755, which appears in the quote from 
his baptism certificate in Dalgado’s book is a misprint. A copy of the same 
document is reproduced as document no.49 in Cunha Rivara’s Revolt of 1787 
edited by Charles Borges and shows the correct year as 1756. There is no 
doubt regarding that date.
