Well dear Fred,

No one can "put off" Gilbert. He is quite capable of "poking" at others; and I believe, he is quite capable of accepting being occasionally poked at.

One does not get to survive and thrive in the field Gilbert works in, without being thick skinned and resolute.

Surely, the Heart 2 Heart lady will agree (:-) that you give some and you get some.

Regarding those among us who get "genders" all mixed up, ...you are right. They are entitled to their own "gender confusion".

I am not an expert in that field (in any field for that matter) - so, I will reserve further comment on gender confusion.


BTW: regarding your friends from "Pernem who prefer to speak Marathi, among other reasons because their dialect has been delegitimised for long as "unfit" of being Konkani"

I'd say that they are truly "unfit to speak Konkani" IF they could NOT stand up to pressure; unless they really wanted to speak Marathi (and expected to be part of Maharashtra).

Still, what language they choose to speak - for whatever reason - is their choice.
