56 year old women, Filomena Lopes, deputy general Manager at SBI Personal banking Division at Malbhat, Margao.
She was discovered lying on the bed with her printed night dress with forhead smashed and covered by a pillow. She was residing alone in her recently constructed bungalow near Nice Tailors, Varca, is learnt to have shifted residence from her rented appratment at Varca four days ago. Her maid servant, Shaik Amman who was working with her for last 3 months, found it odd that Filomena was not replying to the door bell when she arrived for work at around 7 am on 4th May. Amman rushed to the old residence and informed Tomy Cruz, a store owner, whose premises is located above Filomena's residence. With the help of the spare key set which Tomy had with him, they opened the bungalow and found the body of the murdered Filomena and informed the police at 10.25am. It appears that the murderer is known to her as there were no sign of forced entry to the bungalow. Strangely, the door was locked from outside and does not appear anything to have been stolen. Filomena's husband Malcolm, a 2nd officer, had left the state 15 days back to Mumbai and had join duty on the ONGC vessel on 3rd May and has been intimated about the tragedy. The Son Melroy is reported to be serving in the Merchand Navy as 3rd officer and is presently based in China.
