DUBAI: Siolim United beat St Estevam 2-0 while St
Anthony Pernem held Morjim to a 1-1 draw in the second
round matches of the Pehla Cup all Goa inter-village
football tournament played at the Irani Club.
St Estevam is the first team to bow out following
their second loss while Siolim's victory have put them
in contention for the quarter-final spot along with
Vanxim-Divar and Chinchinim in Group A.
Raju Satardekar netted both the goals for Siolim
United. Clive Rodrigues scored for Morjim while Jude
D'Souza equalised for Pernem in the second match.
Vanxim Divar need a victory over Siolim United on Oct.
31 to advance while a draw will put Siolim into
quarters if Chinchinim get the better of St Estevam
the following day.
Loutolim have already advanced with six points from
Group B. A victory or a draw against Morjim on Oct. 31
will put Benaulim through with Loutolim enjoying the
luxury of even losing to Pernem the following day and
heading the group. Pernem's chances, however, will
only brighten if Benaulim lose to Morjim. (See
standings).
Siolim United held an upper hand against Fischer St.
Estevam in the first match but had to wait till injury
time for victory. Raju Sadekar shot Siolim into the
lead two minutes from end and headed home his second
in stoppage time to show St Estevam the door.
Sadekar was named the man of the match and received
the award from former Orkay player Adler D'Cruz.
The second match honours were shared by the north Goa
neighbours Pernem and Morjim who played a 1-1 draw to
make their task of advancing difficult.
After a barren 20 minutes, Morjim shot into the lead
two minutes into the second session when captain's
long lob gave no chances to Pernem's keeper Jonas
D'Souza. Jude D'Souza equalised for Pernem nodding
home a his team-mate Rexon Quadros' rebound.
Daryk D'Souza and Ceophas Fernandes excelled in
Morjim's defence while Norbert Fernandes and Nicholas
played well for Pernem. Seby Carvalho was named the
man of the match.
The tournament is organised by All Star Entertainment
in association with United Goans. The 16-team
tournament, sponsored by Pehla and Citizen, is also
supported by UAE Xchange Abu Dhabi, Emirates Flight
Catering, Jet Airways, Oasis Pure Drinking Water, Gulf
Ocean, Refrigerate Equipment, Al Rubaiya,

round-robin matches continue till Nov. 3 with the
quarters to be played from Nov. 5-8. The semi-finals
are scheduled for Nov. 11-12 with the final fixed for
