There is a logical, or prejudicial, fallacy to Samir's argument.

1) Why does he assume that only a husband-wife couple can share a sleeper? What about an unmarried boyfriend-girlfriend couple? Don't they share physical intimacy?

2) More important (and disturbing) is Samir's stereotyping of gays/lesbians which is a misrepresentation that a lot of us suffer from. We assume that all gays/lesbians are promiscuous. So if a gay is on a narrow sleeper with a straight/gay male he will be quite comfortable to rub bodies with a stranger? Whereas a straight man/woman would find such a situation uncomfortable. What makes us think that a gay/lesbian is comfortable with being in physical contact with a total stranger? Like straight people gays/lesbians have deep relationships and commitments too. All they have is a gender preference which does not necessarily mean that they are comfortable with ANY person of the same gender. The rules of attraction apply to gays and straights. It's time we stopped looking at gays as being universally promiscuous and immoral.
