Meet the head of the UAE’s biggest family

With 68 kids already, Daad Mohammed tells he won’t
stop until he hits 100

Already head of the largest family in the UAE, Daad
Mohammed Murad Abdul Rahman is about to marry for the
twelfth time. Daad, 57, has 68 children by his first
11 wives, with two more on the way. A near-fatal road
accident may have cost him one leg, but it has done
nothing to dampen his spirits.

“My ambition is to have 100 children and get into the
Guinness Book of World Records,” he told 7DAYS.

“Within two months I will have two more kids.”

“My first marriage was in 1969 when I was doing my own
truck business,” he said.

A strict follower of Islamic family values, he
currently has three wives and has legally divorced the
rest.

“I started working at the age of 13 in a hotel and
later joined Abu Dhabi Police. I have worked in the
UAE defence department for 17 years.”

Daad relies on his wives to do much of the housework,
so he says he needs to replace them when they get too
old.

“When one woman became weak, another strong one had to
be brought in to manage the home.”

Daad’s eldest is now 35, while the youngest is just
nine months old. Five boys and five girls are already
married, bringing the total Daad family, including
grandkids, to 120.

Daad has only been able to fund his enormous family
thanks to the generosity of the emirate’s ruler.

“Our Ajman ruler Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi is
generous and wants us to have more children to remove
the demographic imbalances. If we have more children,
the number of expatriates in various departments can
be reduced. Earlier the UAE defence department was
full of Asian expatriates. Thanks to big families, now
local people have taken over those positions.”

He also has another reason for such a large family, he
revealed.

“It is better to have big families because in case of
any foreign invasion, we can defend our country,” he
said.

He takes care of his family, which is spread across
five houses, thanks to a government pension, money
from the marriage fund and gifts from various rulers.

“His Highness Sheikh Zayed gave me two houses, a farm
and dhs100,000,” he said.

Daad rotates his stays between wives, but they all get
together on Fridays at his house in Ajman.

“There is no problem among the multiple wives or
children and with the Grace of God all are living
happily,” he said.

So what’s his secret? “My weight is 90kg and I eat
only normal food like mutton, vegetables and dates. I
have no diseases and I don’t eat from hotels.

“I don’t take any medicines like Viagra - I take a
secret medicine, mixing pure mountain honey with a
special meat powder from a local bird.

“You dry the bird’s meat in sunlight, after adding
salt and pepper to it.

“Add one spoon of pure honey or water and consume
regularly for 40 days. But if you heat the meat the
meat, there is no use.”
