GOACOM DAILY NEWS CLIPPINGS 05 Dec 2003 'PANCHAS DEMANDED RS.20 LAKH': The water sports enthusiast and sports-lover Anil Madgavkar has demanded an inquiry by the government into the functioning of the Reis Magos Panchayat and has charged that the panchayat is "intentionally misleading" local fisherfolk by giving them false information on water sports activity in the Betim bay. Madgavkar has alleged that the misinformation campaign against him has resulted from his denial to pay a bribe of Rs.20 lakh to the panchayat members. (GT)
'POLL OUTCOME EYE-OPENER FOR CONG': PARRIKAR: Buoyed by the positive results in the Northern States, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, yesterday came down heavily on Goan Congress leaders for what he called their "name sake" criticism. Hailing the BJP's victory in the elections in three northern States, he said the results, particularly of Chhattisgarh, should be an eye-opener to Congress politicians in Goa.
