Attack on missionaries: Kerala to give report to NHRC
Thiruvananthapuram:8 (PTI) 9th DEC 16:55 hrs IST http://www.manoramaonline.com/servlet/ContentServer?pagename=manorama/MmArticle/CommonFullStory&c=MmArticle&cid=1102500917670&channel=News&p=1002194839100&count=7
Kerala Government had drawn up a detailed report to be submitted to the National Human Rights Commission on the attack on nuns and charity workers of the Missionaries of Chairity at Olavanna near Kozhikode three months ago.
"A detailed report is ready. Its draft has been approved and it would be forwarded to NHRC today itself," Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said when he was apprised of reports that the NHRC was yet to get the report it had sought on the incident. Though officials concerned had earlier drawn up a report and submitted it to him, he wanted it to be comprehensive.
The matter was a bit delayed for that reason, the Chief Minister told reporters after a cabinet meeting. A team of charity workers, including a nun, were attacked by anti-socials during their visit to a Dalit colony in Olavanna. The incident had drawn severe criticism from different quarters.
