At an impressive inaugural ceremony held on Monday, the gymkhana was thrown open to the public by film actor, Arbaz Khan and his wife, Mallika Arora Khan, in the presence of Rodricks, Colvale sarpanch, Nilkanth Halarnkar and other panchayat members. Halarnkar said the gymkhana would provide an avenue for the youth of the village to put their idle time to productive use. "It will help us develop the physical fitness of our youngsters who will be assets to society in the years to come," Halarnkar said in his welcome address. Later, Rodricks said his decision to donate the equipment was inspired by his late father, who had specifically asked him to invest in providing his co-villagers productive avenues instead of merely falling prey to alcoholism. He thanked Khan for helping him locate the gym equipment from Mumbai, and urged the youth to make the best use of the facility. The Khans later also inaugurated a children's park in the vicinity of the panchayat office. Meanwhile, Halarnkar informed Herald that village youth will be allowed use of the gymkhana free of cost. Efforts will also be made to hire the services of a qualified trainer, he said. 0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000
