Congress won 34 of 60 seats. Independents won 13, while the Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured just nine seats. Congress chief minister Gegong Apang won his seat, as did his main rival. Correspondents say Congress did not do as well as expected. All eyes are now on who will be new chief minister.
