Goa MP's son shot at HT Correspondent Indore, December 21

GOA MP Churchill Alemao's son Saviyo and his friend Uri, both hailing from Goa, were shot at after a minor altercation with the accused inside the lift of the multistoried building, Jhabua Towers, this evening. The bullet missed both of them.

The accused, Rohit Verma, a stockbroker by profession, has been arrested and charged with attempted murder. According to information, the incident occurred at around 7.30 pm, when Saviyo and his friend Uri, who are learning to be pilots at the local flying club, had come to visit their friend at Jhabua Towers.

While coming down, the lift stopped at the seventh floor and Rohit Verma, who lives in Jhabua Towers, stepped in. Music was being played over the speaker in the lift and the two young boys (both in their early twenties) were tapping to the tune.

Rohit, who is also in his mid-twenties, objected to their tapping and told them to stop, saying that the lift was weak and it would fall down. The Goans refused and countered by telling him to stop the background music, and added that they would continue their dance till then.

The three of them had a heated exchange while the lift came to the ground floor.
