Re: A Goan without love for music song and dance is a just next to impossible.
This thread like many topics started on many Goan mailing lists. It generated an interesting post on the Konkani forum. This post and its response are transferred here (from the Konkani Forum); as it would be of interest to members of this mailing list. Depending on your personality and disposition, it will make you laugh or cry or both. Post: Friends, As we have had no response from the rest of the members of this KONKANI Forum, I have no option but to ask Gaspar Almeida - The Owner and Moderator of this forum - to continue without my assistance. Besides Fausto, Daniel ..........nobody seems to be interested in PROMOTING Konkani. Fr. Raposo and Tomzahinho are yet to respond to my emails....... GL responds: Hi, I have an idea of how to generate interest in Konkani - Romi script among our ganv-bhavs ani ganv-bhoinis. Have a borem vodlem celebration or natak in Hindi or Marathi or Kanada in Amchem Bangarachem Goem. Like IFFI, we will then wake up. But only to complain ani protest ani whine and be bent-out-of-shape (for the 1-2 wks) about Cultural Imperialism, Exploitive Capitalism ani Foreign Language Control, etc. etc. Ami Goenkars only realize we have lost something when somebody else has it. Then we object that we have been deprived ani exploited because of our decent character and high-class temperament. Regards, GL
