SHAME GOA, SHAME: Shame on you, Goa! Shame on all the people who came to Goa
to enjoy themselves and shame on all the people, who made pious sounding
statements and then danced the night away on December 31. In case many of
you'll had forgotten, India was struck by a double tragedy - the death of
former primer minister PV Narashima Rao and a tragedy that cannot be erased
from the memory of Indian history. The deaths resulting from the tsunami
tragedy in the eastern coastal belt of India and the rest of India. (Edit in
Herald)

Hello Netters,

It was a sad thing that this TSUNAMI took place in the world. Many say if the warning was given before hand many lives would be saved, but its hard to believe, as this was the first time this took place, and hence people would not have taken much heed of it. Most being unaware what TSUNAMI is. That’s another story.

As humans it was our duty to take part in the international grief, but seems Goa forgot about it. They did have the dances, they enjoyed until wee hours of the morning, but as humans, it would have been a good gesture. As Goans we should have felt the grief of Sri Lanka too, as that is the place where our Goan son helped in spreading Christianity. Who did lots of good there, and now is proclaimed as the Patron saint of Goa, Fr. Jose Vaz. One big thanks to Indian Government as it was the first to send help to our neighbouring country inspite of being the sufferer herself.

I read this news in our newspaper, and it was something to wonder about. Although many humans perished, got lost (still to be found) and are injured, the paper says, no animal died in this calamity. Some sixth sense must have warned these creatures about the calamity and had already gone to save themselves in higher areas.

Cheers

Jerry Fernandes
