Giorgio, an Italian national, popularly known as Joe, was arrested by the Colva police on charges of repeatedly raping a 10-year-old girl. (GT) PILGRIMS AT OLD GOA ON 2ND DAY: Around 9,000 pilgrims visited Old Goa on November 22, the second day of the Exposition of the sacred relics of St Francis Xavier now underway at the Se Cathedral. According to the Exposition Commissioner, Mr Bosco George, around 3,000 pilgrims paid homage to the saint on November 21. The 10-day festival will begin on November 29 with a cultural parade from the Ribandar circle to Bal Bhavan, which will feature giant floats showcasing Goan music and nature with performers in traditional costumes, dancers and folk artistes enthralling the people en route. (H) SUPER-SPECIALITY CARDIAC CARE AT GMC: In a major step towards setting up super-speciality cardiac care unit at GMC hospital, the Goa government will sign an agreement with M/s Vivus, Bangalore, in mid-December.This will be the first time that a private institute will run a super-speciality unit in a government-run hospital in Goa. The For Konkani stage artistes the categories are Best Writer, Best Director, Best Musician, Best Actor, Best Actress and Best Comedian. The presentation was delayed this year due to the tragic death of "Gulab" editor and publisher Fr Freddy J da Costa. TIATRIST TONY SAX TURNS 75: Antonio Francisco Fernandes, popularly known as Tony Sax, one of the stalwarts of the Konkani stage, will celebrate his 75th birthday at his residence at Collem on 23 November, 2004. An actor with terrific charisma, he played a variety of roles and was often called as "Pran" of the Konkani stage. He wrote and directed about 10 dramas and acted for more than 40 years. He was last seen in "Tiatrist" directed by late Jacinto Vaz in 1998.
