XAVIER'S NEWS & FEATURES E-SERVICE (XNFES)

Celebrating Theatre at Xavier's

'Theatre is for those who truly enjoy the experience of working as a
team, pooling in every creative talent at hand, and holding a
production together with hard work and absolute commitment" said Mrs.
Roxana Singh in her address to the gathering of young theatre
enthusiasts at St. Xavier's College recently. Mrs. Singh was the
Chief Guest for the programme held to usher in, yet another year of
celebrating theatre at Xavier's. The Theatre Club of Xavier's turned
14 this year.

The function began with a performance of Neil Simon's, The Surgery a
comedy in One Act, presented by Audrick D'Mello (T.Y.B.A.) and Nieta
Bruto da Costa (T.Y.B.A).

Mrs. Singh appreciated the students performance and applauded the
efforts made by the Theatre Club of Xavier's in tapping and
show-casing the rich talent available on campus. Speaking of the
varied dimensions of theatre, she highlighted the interesting
possibilities that could evolve from a collaborative effort among the
various departments within the College. Having directed a number of
performances both at school as well as at college level herself, and
armed with a deep passion for the stage, Mrs. Singh inspired the
members of the club to persist in their efforts to promote good
theatre in Goa. She underscored the importance of reading more plays
and attending performances, as often as possible, in order to develop
a finer taste for drama.

The function closed with an interactive theatre game conducted by
Adrij Vas and concluding remarks by Mrs. Alice D'Cruz, the Convenor
of the Club. Joshua Cordeiro and Elaine Barreto compered the function.
