Dear Netters, Like he used to do before, Fr. Evaristo da Gama may not be playing front line roles in social action within the Church in Goa. But his pastoral ministry and formation of parishioners at the grassroots, goes on unheralded.
Given his 42 years of shepherding experience, he is one of the best pastors we have ever seen and one of the most effective animators of Small Christian Communities *(Lhan Kristi Samudai)* in Goa. With an academic background in *Pastoral Theology* and hands-on grassroots involvement with *Social Justice issues in Goa*, Fr. Evaristo has over the years specialised in the the *Social Teachings of the Church. * As the resident Chaplain there, Fr. Evaristo has organised an important programme at the Piedade Chapel, Quitula, Aldona, Presented in English, the sessions will cover 3 crucial topics for the grassroots life of the Church in Goa: 1. Vision of of II Vatican Council - Saturday, 2 March, 6:30-8 pm. Significantly this is the Golden Jubilee year of the council. 2. Vision of Goa Synod - Sunday, 10 March, 9:30-11 am. It is 10 years since that historic conclave of all sections of the Church in Goa. 3. Vision of Small Christian Communities - Sunday 17 March, 9:30-11 am. The Church at the grassroots and how vibrant and vigourous its life should be. If you can make it to any of the sessions, please contact: Fr.
