Last year UNESCO declared the 30th of April as international jazz day and Jazz Goa celebrated it with a concert in the park. The tradition continues this year and every year with Jazz Goa hosting the concert at the Jardim Garcia de Orta in Panjim featuring musicians from Goa, across India and around the world. Every year a different country is chosen as the host, this year it is Turkey. The main concert takes place in Istanbul with many countries spread over six continents participating in this worldwide celebration. The host city event features some of the biggest names in jazz all funded to perform by the UNESCO. Jazz Goa's director Colin D'Cruz got in touch with UNESCO requesting for India as the next host country with Panjim as host city. He recieved a phone call directly from a UNESCO official informing him about the possibility for the year 2015. This would be a huge event for India and Goa where musicians from all over the world have found an inspiring home.
